Greeks Leaders at the Central Fraternal Leadership and Values Conference
Our Chapter president, Sarah Sabatino, joined the rest of the Arkansas Panhellenic and IFC presidents at the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values Central conference over the weekend. The conference was held Thursday, February 9- Sunday February 12 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Arkansas was represented by all of Panhellenic Council, the IFC and Panhellenic Presidents, the Mulitcultral Greek Council, and Pan-hellenic Council.  Sarah Brady, a Junior Pi Phi, represented Panhellenic Council as Vice President of Philanthropy.

The conference offered speakers and breakout sessions about leadership and diversity on campus. They also had sessions on how to strengthen your Greek chapter.

“Arkansas was one of the biggest schools at the conference,” Sabatino said, “So people kept coming up to us and asking us about our Greek community”

At the end of the conference they gave out awards. Arkansas received an award for Philanthropy and for Recruitment.

“One thing that I really learned was different ways to motivate different types of members,” Sabatino said, “There are the girls who want to be involved in everything, the girls who can only come on certain days, and the girls who just want to be involved to make friends”

The conference helped Sabatino learn ways to motivate different types of members to stay involved in the chapter.

“Another thing that really stood out to me,” said Sabatino, “Was changing the negative image of Greek life from the media.”

All the Pi Phi chapters at the conference
During a conference there was an Affiliation Day where everyone sat with their Greek chapter from the different schools represented. Linda Ibsen, Pi Phi’s National Panhellenic Council representative, was at the conference. Alexis Hurtle, an Arkansas Alpha alumni, was also there as ASU’s Greek Life Director.

The conference introduced our Greek Life leaders to the leaders of other Greek chapters while still stressing the importance of working with Greek life as a whole.
