Panhellenic Field Day

Every year at the University of Arkansas Panhellenic Field Day, we surrender our proud colors of wine and silver blue to join together with the other seven Panhellenic chapters to compete on teams together and raise money for the Peace at Home Women’s Shelter.

“When we signed in they gave us tank tops of all different colors to show what teams we were on,” said Caitlin Britt, a sophomore said, “One member of each sorority was represented on the teams”

The teams participated in four games: relay race, capture the flag, flag football, and musical chairs. There were no actual winners for the events, the purpose of the games were to promote unity between the sororities. They played music and the girls were able to socialize in between the events.
“We met girls tons from other sororities that were on our team and by interacting with everyone in between the events” Tori Faulkner, a sophomore, said.

In addition to brining unity between the chapters, the Field Day was also a philanthropy event benefiting a local battered women’s shelter. Each chapter gave donations to the Peace at Home Family Shelter as well as a basket of nonperishable items for the shelter. Through the event, Arkansas Panhellenic raised over $4,000 for the shelter.

“It was really fun to be able to come together with all the other chapters and do something for the community,” said Britt, “Sometimes we forget that we are all working for a similar cause.”
